White Water Training & Experiences

• Learn to control the craft on gently flowing water.
• Have fun travelling along a gently flowing river with easily negotiable features.
• White Water training on Grade 1 & 2 Waters.
• If you'd like to develop your confidence and skills away from the public gaze, learn white water "survival" skills such as support strokes and the eskimo roll or practice deep water rescue techniques, we have access to the warm, friendly environment of a swimming pool in the centre of Bristol.

Courses

BCU 1 Star

- is a flat water award that demonstrates an individual has basic boat control and foundation skills. It will take an overall time of 6 hours. For more information take a look at the 1 Star syllabus.

BCU 2 Star

- is an improvement award that helps paddlers develop fundamental paddle-sport skills on flat water using both kayak and canoe. The emphasis is on gaining a breadth of experience, creating the desired movement of the boat and developing an understanding into how the paddle, boat and water interact. This award also includes a couple of deep water rescue techniques.

BCU 3 Star

- is a discipline specific award. The Outside Element can provide the White Water kayak 3 Star. Successful performance at this level indicates the paddler can consider themselves an intermediate kayaker. They can paddle on moving water in a competent manner as part of a led group and have the knowledge and ability to help the smooth runnning of a trip while being led down a section of Grade 2 river. Cost

• £20 per person per hour (recommend two hours in order to gain maximum benefit)
